Public Relations–Respond to Criticism (Or Not)?

I’m curious…if you’re in a line of work that requires you to write copy related public relations, do you respond to criticism? Let’s say your customer/boss is working on a project that others think could be done better their way. The project is being funded, but the criticism continues.

  • Do you respond factually?
  • Do you respond in such a way as to make your critics look foolish?
  • Do you ignore the critics to avoid giving their comments additional credibility?
  • Hope the criticism blows over until you are able to prove success?

Opinions welcome.
